@yell, you give even more testament to the diversity of cheapness in the mission. adding to the list: delfina's at 18th and guerrero offers $10-$13 pizza; 24th and valencia finds you at phat philly offering (in my opinion) the best bang for the buck cooking sustainable american-kobe cheese steaks and $3 21st amendment beer. try the attic (still on 24th b/t valencia and mission) for cheap pints and a dark atmosphere... you'll thank me when your retinas adjust.

I have to disagree with most of the things you've suggested. None of them are very cheap and none of them are really THAT good (except for Elbo Room - $2 Speakeasy Ale before 9 pm).

What about Cancun at 19th and Mission? You can get a taco with the works and a side of chips and salsa for $2.50 total.

Ali Babas at 19th and Valencia serves up a falafel the size of your forearm for a mere $6.

Delirium has cheap beers all the time, and FREE dancing in the back.

Pop's at 24th and York has $6 pitchers of PBR ($5 on Tuesdays) and awesome daily happy hours.
