It's a complex spirit and (unlike vodka) an essential ingredient in some of the best classic cocktails (prohibition era, and before). It was also the original spirit used for the martini. I'd highly recommend checking out my favorite - <a href="http://www.hendricksgin.co.uk/" rel="nofollow">Hendrick's</a> (flavored with cucumber and rose petals), or <a href="http://plymouthgin.com/" rel="nofollow">Plymouth</a>.
